Since 2015, I have worked as a hospital administrator in the Coimbra Hospital and University Center (CHUC).
Throughout my professional life, the need to innovate in the care delivery model has become increasingly clear. At CHUC I have been fortunate to participate in international projects that leverage the necessary change.
In addition to the excellence of health professionals and all employees, I came to find in Coimbra an exceptional ecosystem for health innovation. Organizations like Pedro Nunes Institute and the Coimbra University, create the conditions for the development of new ideas, innovation projects and new solutions and products.
CHUC is an essential part of this ecosystem. Coimbra is not just history. Being a hospital administrator at CHUC is part of the tradition and future of healthcare.
CHUC's mission is to provide high quality healthcare, in a context of pre- and post-graduate training, with a strong focus on research & development & innovation.
Historically, it is recognized for its clinical quality. Currently, it belongs to 10 European reference networks (among the most reputable European hospitals) and 18 national reference networks (national leader).
Fruit of the work of several partners led by CCDR Centro, the University of Coimbra and the Pedro Nunes Institute, the Centro Region of Portugal, having Coimbra as its strategic core, is one of the few places recognized by the European Union with the highest score in the area of active aging It's healthy. This distinction results from a unique ecosystem, conducive to the development of good practices in the health area, associated with active and healthy aging, based on the Education / Innovation / Research axes.
CHUC has assumed its role as an anchor in this Health Innovation Ecosystem, preparing for the future of healthcare provision. In this field, it is a national leader in the European Union's innovation and research programs: Horizon 2020, InterReg and EIT Health.
